David has filled the role of Tunnelling Construction Manager, post tender, and has taken responsibility for all aspects of the delivery planning for the tunnelling scope on the Alkimos Desalination Project.

David’s primary responsibility has been the development of tender concepts to support the design and procurement teams. David has led the process of the design and procurement of two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), the Slurry Treatment Plant (STP), and Rolling stock. David professionally managed and coordinated the stakeholders in these complex procurement exercises to ensure that the project advanced without delay.

The development of the design has involved the integration of numerous stakeholders. David has led the input from the tunnelling works to inform the temporary and permanent works designs, in particular, detailed work by David has developed the tunnel launch concepts, tunnel alignment and permanent lining design. His thorough understanding of tunnelling operations and his proactive approach in addressing design challenges played a crucial role in supporting the development of the work.

Throughout his time on the project, David has demonstrated proficient technical skills and a strong commitment to collaboration and problem-solving. His leadership and professionalism have been invaluable at this critical stage on the project. I highly recommend David for his technical skills and dedicated, professional approach to complicated tasks.

David (Dave) joined the ASWA team at a crucial stage in the alliance, where, to manage critical schedule risk, the key project focus was the detailed planning of tunnelling activities, plant and equipment selection and integration into the wider plant design.  Through his solutions orientated thinking and building from his significant experience, Dave quickly understood the key challenges and brought innovation and critical thinking in a fully co-operative and collaborative manner. Dave is a pleasure to have on the team, installing confidence that tunnelling risks and challenges have been identified and addressed from safety, production, plant reliability and quality amongst other considerations. With his commitment, experience, leadership style and approach, I would welcome David back on future tunnelling projects without hesitation.

Dave filled the tunnel lead role for the Alkimos project since project commencement for the last 10 months. During the crucial forming and development phase Dave was fully responsible and accountable the tunnel design, temporary works design, mix shield Tunnel Boring Machine and Slurry Treatment Plant.  

Dave was an important part of the project leadership team and critical to supporting and imbedding the project culture and ensuring project safety, quality, production objectives have been fully integrated and imbedded in all aspects of the project. Dave strength is his technical ability and has great attention to detail and a collaborative approach making him easily approached and a strong team player.
